Data Processing in the ParqSafe App
ParqSafe is a desktop application that creates local backups of your Parqet portfolios and restores them into new portfolios. All backup data is stored locally in a database on your own computer. No personal data is collected, stored, or transmitted to any servers operated by us.
- Purpose: Creating timestamped backups of your Parqet portfolios and restoring them on your own computer.
- Legal Basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a reliable, on-device backup of your portfolio data).
Parqet Connect API Connection
ParqSafe connects directly from your computer to the official Parqet Connect API (parqet.com). When you create a backup, it reads a portfolio's holdings and activities; when you restore, it creates a new portfolio on your behalf. This data flows directly between your computer and Parqet — it does not pass through any intermediary or servers operated by us.
Authentication and Authorization
Authorization to your Parqet account uses the official Parqet Connect sign-in flow. You enter your Parqet credentials directly on Parqet's own secure login page. ParqSafe never sees, stores, or transmits your Parqet password. After successful authorization, Parqet issues a token that ParqSafe uses to read and write portfolio data on your behalf. You can revoke this authorization at any time — by disconnecting within the app or by revoking access in your Parqet account settings.
Local Data Storage
Your backups — portfolio holdings, activities, and snapshot metadata such as timestamps — are stored in a local database on your own computer. The authorization token is stored locally in your operating system's secure credential store. ParqSafe does not upload any of this data to external servers.
Export Files
ParqSafe can export your backups as a single file so you can move them between computers. Export files can optionally be protected with a password and encrypted using AES-256. Export files are under your sole control: you decide where they are saved and with whom, if anyone, they are shared.
No User Accounts or Tracking
ParqSafe does not require a ParqSafe account (your Parqet account is your only login), does not create user profiles, and does not track your usage behavior. We do not collect analytics data about how you use the app.
Diagnostics and Crash Reports
If the app generates crash reports or diagnostic data, these are used exclusively for error analysis. If you have enabled crash-report sharing in your operating system settings, the platform (Apple or Microsoft) may forward anonymized crash reports to us.
Current Status: No third-party analytics. Should this change, this policy will be updated and providers will be named.
Third Parties
The only third party ParqSafe communicates with is the official Parqet Connect API, and only for the purpose of reading or restoring the portfolio data you have explicitly authorized. For details on how Parqet processes your data, please consult theParqet privacy policy.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and data portability in accordance with legal requirements. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. You can revoke ParqSafe's access to your Parqet account at any time, and you can delete your local backups directly within the app.
Children
The app is not specifically directed at children. No special categories of personal data according to Art. 9 GDPR are processed.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We will update this privacy policy if processing or legal requirements change. The current version is always available at this URL.
