Data Processing in the Arcaria App
Arcaria is a desktop application that organizes and archives your bank and brokerage documents. You import your own PDF statements, and Arcaria stores them in a single encrypted vault on your own computer. No personal data is collected, stored, or transmitted to any servers operated by us.
- Purpose: Importing, reading, organizing, searching, and archiving your financial documents locally on your own computer.
- Legal Basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a private, on-device archive of your own documents).
Local Data Storage
Your documents and everything you add to them — extracted details such as date, amount, currency, bank, account or custody account, ISIN, and document type, as well as your tags and notes — are stored in a single encrypted vault in a local database on your own computer. Arcaria does not upload any of this data to external servers. It has no server and no cloud storage, and it works fully offline.
Reading Your PDF Documents
When you import a PDF, Arcaria reads it directly on your device to fill in details such as the date, amount, currency, bank, account or custody account, ISIN, and document type. This processing happens entirely on your own computer. The contents of your documents are never sent to us or to any third party.
No Bank Connection
Arcaria does not connect to your bank, your broker, or any online account. It works only with the PDF files you import yourself. There is no login to a financial institution and no automated retrieval of your statements.
Encrypted Backups and Exports
Arcaria can back up your entire vault to a single encrypted file so you can keep a copy or move it to another computer, and you can restore it in one step. Backups and exports are under your sole control: you decide where they are saved and with whom, if anyone, they are shared.
No User Accounts or Tracking
Arcaria does not require an account, does not create user profiles, and does not track your usage behavior. We do not collect analytics data about how you use the app.
Diagnostics and Crash Reports
If the app generates crash reports or diagnostic data, these are used exclusively for error analysis. If you have enabled crash-report sharing in your operating system settings, the platform (Apple or Microsoft) may forward anonymized crash reports to us.
Current Status: No third-party analytics. Should this change, this policy will be updated and providers will be named.
Third Parties
Arcaria does not transmit your documents or their contents to any third party. The only data that may reach a third party is the optional, anonymized crash-report data forwarded by your operating system platform (Apple or Microsoft) if you have enabled it.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and data portability in accordance with legal requirements. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Because your documents are stored only on your own computer, you remain in full control of them and can delete them directly within the app at any time.
Children
The app is not specifically directed at children. No special categories of personal data according to Art. 9 GDPR are processed.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We will update this privacy policy if processing or legal requirements change. The current version is always available at this URL.
