EquityLens Update: Lock Screen Widget, Fresh ETF Data, and More
EquityLens just received its biggest update yet. Whether you check your VWCE or VWRL investment daily or prefer a more passive approach, this release brings meaningful improvements to how you interact with your portfolio data.
Here is what changed and why it matters.
Your ETF Performance on the Lock Screen
The headline feature of this update is the new iPhone lock screen widget. You can now see your VWCE or VWRL performance without unlocking your phone or opening the app.
For passive investors who follow a buy-and-hold strategy, this strikes a useful balance: you stay informed about your investment without the friction of opening a portfolio app. A quick glance at your lock screen tells you where things stand.
The widget is lightweight and updates automatically, so it works well alongside your existing lock screen setup — weather, calendar, or whatever else you have there.
Updated ETF Holdings Data
The ETF data powering EquityLens has been refreshed to reflect the latest Vanguard FTSE All-World index composition. This matters because the index is not static. Companies get added and removed, weightings shift as market capitalizations change, and emerging markets grow or shrink in representation.
With this update, the country breakdowns, sector allocations, and individual stock weightings all reflect the most current data available. If you are using EquityLens to understand what you actually own inside your VWCE or VWRL position, you are now looking at an accurate, up-to-date picture.
ETF Parts per Stock
A new addition to the stock detail view: you can now see how many ETF parts (shares within the fund) each stock represents. This gives you a more granular understanding of the fund’s construction beyond just percentage weightings.
For example, knowing that Apple represents X parts while a smaller holding represents Y parts adds another dimension to understanding how the fund is built. It is particularly useful when comparing similarly weighted stocks — the number of parts can reveal differences in how the fund manager allocates across positions.
More Stock Logos
Browsing through 4,000+ holdings is more pleasant when you can actually recognize the companies visually. This update adds logos for many more stocks in the holdings list. It is a small thing, but it makes scanning through sectors and countries noticeably faster when you can identify companies at a glance rather than reading every ticker symbol.
Smoother Scrolling
Speaking of browsing those 4,000+ stocks — the list view now scrolls significantly smoother. Under the hood, the rendering has been optimized so that scrolling through the full holdings list feels fluid, even on older devices. If you previously noticed any stutter when quickly scrolling through the complete stock list, that should be gone now.
General UI Polish
Beyond the specific features above, this update includes a round of UI refinements across the app. Small alignment fixes, improved visual consistency, and subtle tweaks that make the overall experience feel more polished. Nothing that changes how you use the app, but the kind of attention to detail that adds up over time.
