What does csv2excel do?

It handles very large CSV files quickly and preserves data integrity for ZIP codes, large numbers, and special formats.
How does smart type detection work?
When enabled, csv2excel automatically detects whether each cell contains a number, date, or text and formats it accordingly in Excel. Leading zeros (like ZIP codes or SKUs) are preserved as text, and integers longer than 15 digits stay as text to prevent Excel precision loss. You can toggle smart detection off to import everything as plain text.
Does csv2excel support European number formats?
Yes. The decimal style picker lets you choose between Auto (infers from CSV delimiter), Dot (1,234.56), and Comma (1.234,56) formats. European comma-decimal values like 16,44 are correctly converted to numbers in Excel.
Which date formats are recognized?
csv2excel detects ISO dates (2024-03-15), European dates (15.03.2024), US dates (03/15/2024), text-month dates (15-Mar-2024), time-only values (14:30:00), and two-digit years. Invalid dates like February 31 are safely kept as text.
